The atmosphere around the place seemed almost festive -- people milling about in no particular hurry, neighbours chatting with neighbours (some possibly for the first time), just general good feelings overall. When I try to describe this to other people, though, they just look at me funny. Either that was the only happy-poll in the city (maybe they were pumping pot smoke through the ventilation system), or I need my rose-coloured glasses readjusted.
