Sony's Anti-customer Technology

Boing Boing today is showing a neatly organized timeline of Sony and the DRM rootkit saga. I wasn't going to buy Sony electronics ever again after my dealings with their Net MD Sonicstage software, well now I am going to extend this loathing to their Music CDs.

Anti-Customer technology is an older, but still reliable marketing strategy that has been in practice almost as long as capitalism itself. Let's take a look at a few of the more recent examples:
The Ford Pinto - "It's cheaper for us to be rung dry in court than it is to repair our exploding gas tanks. Have you driven a Ford lately?"
Phillip Morris - "Not only can we make billions without ANY televised advertising or depictions in print of people actually using our product, but we'll actively support televised/print/web-based campaigns that tell people our products kill them!"
