Blogger burnout ?

I was reading todays wilwheatondotnet and he linked to Tony Pierce's "how to tell you are experiencing blogger burnout".

Lately I've been experiencing #6, concerning myself with hits, popularity and such. Yeah, it's dumb, and I admit it, why does one do it? I have no idea, maybe it's when you start typing as if you are speaking to other people instead of writing? I am a horrible public speaker, so I can see how that would translate badly. Does it really matter? Hell no, why am I posting about it? Cause it popped into my 'ead.

I've had some of the other ones too, but not to a great extent, although #7 is haunting me some too... but it kind of goes with #6. "when you believe the lie that what you think doesn't matter." Getting caught up in a popularity contest also tends to make you believe if people don't comment and visit that what you say doesn't matter. Hand in hand in my head.

Blogger burnout. It usually hits me when I find myself feeling compelled to write something, but with nothing to really say. Sometimes I guess you just have to let it ride until something comes up that really gives you an opportunity to expound.

Where did you get your site design from? I just set mine up, but it looks kind of assy. I want to post the categories up and what not, but I can't figure out how to do it. And what about listing the munu people on my site as well? Can you email me the source code you used so I can just cut and paste to my template? Or is that illegal or something? huzzah!

I just write for the sake of writing. Although I check stats, it's more out of interest than a burning desire to be popular.

I think that once you stop writing just for the sake of writing is when burnout can creep in.

Meh... I usually stop writing whenever I'm more exhausted than able to form complete sentences. Most of the time when I work, it's not conducive to writing blogs, so I just surf.

That, and hey, I don't really think that I have all that much of an interesting life. The idea follows that the internet blogs consist 80% of bitching, moaning, cat pictures, and the latest news of the TomKat ("SAVE KATIE!") fiasco.

Incidentally, I found it quite interesting that GoogleAds put the following up on your blog:

Have you LOOKED at the links to GoogleAds on your page? Dude! It's a SIGN! :-)

You mean the 3 entries for Anger Management, and Psychological Services? Yeah, that's a little disconcerting, I wonder what text it's referencing, or does it just sense my state of mind?

Your output has actually increased in frequency and volume lately. That can only lead to a jump in quality with practice. Right? IMO yer not burning out.
